Indiana: Join Friends of Blue Grass FWA and DNR for a property cleanup

Volunteers are needed at Blue Grass Fish & Wildlife Area (FWA) for a property-wide cleanup effort with DNR and the Friends of Blue Grass FWA group.

The cleanup is Saturday, Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. CT. Volunteers should meet at Parking Lot 16. The rain date is Saturday, Sept. 25 at the same time and location.

This is an opportunity for volunteers to give back to a place they love and learn more about plans the Friends of Blue Grass FWA group has to help DNR improve visitors’ experiences. To learn more and register for the cleanup day, visit: https://bit.ly/3mKnY4h.

With the help of the Friends of Blue Grass FWA, several improvement projects are underway or are being planned. These include a newly established hiking trail, wildflower plantings, and funding toward a dock at Blue Grass Pit.

Future plans include marking the hiking trail with birdhouses and putting in benches for rest areas.

“We’re continually looking for recommendations and assistance with Friends of Blue Grass FWA,” said Adam Cartwright, the organization’s president. “People can follow us and join in the conversation on Facebook or better yet, join us at our monthly meetings.”
