Box Tree Moth Quarantine

The box tree moth quarantine began on April 1, 2023, and has expanded to cover 13 counties, including Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland, Jackson, Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee, Monroe, Macomb and St. Clair counties. The quarantine has restrictions on movement of Bruxus plant material inside the regulated area as well as regulations on movement to areas outside of the regulated area.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will begin trapping for box tree moth in the regulated areas in June 2025. If you suspect you have found an infestation, please take photographs and report it at www.Michigan.gov/ReportBTM.
