Alabama S3DA Hosts 2020 Indoor State Championship

Williamsburg, KY – The Alabama S3DA Indoor State Championship was held at Archery Unlimited (archery shop) in Prattville, Alabama. More than 100 archers representing 10 clubs and teams competed. It was very exciting to see Alabama S3DA have over 15% growth in participation numbers compared to the 2019 Indoor State Championship. One S3DA archer, Maysen Duddy from Dothan Archery club expressed that she liked how the volunteers were helpful and made sure everyone was using their scorecards correctly and she liked traveling and seeing the big archery shops.

Isaac Revitt, from Dothan Archery club stated, “Overall it was an excellent tournament. Things moved quickly and the archery shop provided great accommodations for people who were simply there to watch us. I am already looking forward to the 2021 Indoor season!”

With more than two-hundred spectators throughout the day, the High School Male Open division finished in a highlight reel. Spectators enjoyed watching a shoot-off between Dakota Joiner and Tyler Killingsworth for High School Male Open 3rd place. Both individuals shot an outstanding 150/20x and displayed exceptional sportsmanship in the shoot-off with Dakota taking home the 3rd place finish.

Alabama S3DA State Coordinator, Shelley Skinner stated, “The tournament was a huge success! A special thanks to Archery Unlimited for being such a great host and our many volunteers that worked throughout the day. Programs like this would not be possible without all the help from volunteers. We really appreciate the parents and their involvement with the youth in the S3DA program. The family members and friends have shown such amazing support of these young archers.”

Coach Scooter Stano from the University of Montevallo was present for the event. The University of Montevallo recently established an archery program. Certificates were provided from other colleges and universities including: Union College, Bethel University, The University of the Cumberlands and Lindsey Wilson College.
