Intense Competition Ahead for Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster High School Series National Championship

WEST POINT, MS – Starting on Thusday, August 2 and ending on the August 4, will be what is now being referred to as the “largest high school fishing tournament in the world.”

A total of 322 boats comprised of two-person teams and their coaches coming all the way from Zimbabwaea, Canada, and 38 states from the U.S. will all come together at Kentucky Lake and Barkley Lake for the Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster High School Series National Championship.

The best anglers from the B.A.S.S. High School Nation will be competing in the week’s national championship.  James Gibbons, one of the members from the 2018 Bassmaster High School Classic championship team is already on site practicing for this week’s major championship.

“Winning the Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster National Championship would be an honor and is something we dream about and work very hard for all year,” said Gibbons who has practiced in the days leading up to the tournament. “The conditions may be a bit tough for the entire field. Kentucky Lake is known for its ledges and features the potential to catch a large amount of bass and some very nice-sized bass off those ledges.  However, it is getting towards the end of summer now and the fish seem to be moving off of the ledges and are tough to find right now. Whoever can find any remaining fish on the ledges will be set up for a great tournament.”

Boats will start launching out of Paris Landing State Park at 5:45 AM local time.  Contestants will go out in flights.  Flights and check-in times will be staggered to give each contestant equal fishing time.  Ongoing live updates can be seen at Bassmaster’s website, where the weigh-ins from each day will be streamed LIVE and the event leaderboard will be regularly updated upon each weigh-in.  Mossy Oak Fishing will also feature ongoing real-time and live updates on its Facebook andInstagram pages.
