CVA Paramount Long Range Muzzleloader
The PARAMOUNT is CVA’s newest addition to its muzzleloading rifle family. Unlike any other CVA rifle, this bolt-action gun was developed and designed to handle “super magnum” propellant charges – meaning: in excess of a 150 grain by volume equivalent of black powder, and thus provides the higher velocities necessary for harvesting animals effectively at 300 yards and beyond. Of course, 2200 FPS plus velocities are worth nothing without the accuracy to put those shots where they belong, and for this, like all premium CVA’s, the PARAMOUNT features a custom quality .45 caliber free floating Bergara® barrel in Nitride treated 416 grade stainless steel. Paired with PowerBelt’s new ELR bullets, which were specially designed for the PARAMOUNT; this barrel can produce incredibly tight groups at ranges previously thought unreachable for a muzzleloader.
CVA’S Brand Manager Jason Sebo stated, "The Paramount has been a two-year project in the making. We wanted an accurate, 300 to 400 yard muzzleloader that retailed around $1,000, contained components that were both easy to use and acquire, but most importantly, was transferable without having to complete a 4473 form. After two years of testing numerous twist rates in the Paramount in both .50 and .45 caliber, it was determined that the .45 caliber with a 1:22 twist nitride Bergara barrel gave us the best long-range performance, all while maintaining terminal ballistics when using the new 280 grain PowerBelt ELR bullet."
Also, standard with the PARAMOUNT is CVA’s VariFlame® Breech Plug. The VariFlame®, designed by Cecil Epps, uses the hotter and more consistent Large Rifle Primer rather than the 209 Shot Shell Primer, and is specifically designed to make ignition more efficient. For maximum comfort and stability, the Paramount stock supports the barrel upon an internal aluminum chassis and offers full ergonomic adjustability of both length of pull and comb height. For quick in-the-field reloading, a self-deploying compact ramrod and belt case is included, along with a one-piece range and cleaning rod.
