Minnesota Hockey/Fishing Partnership to Raise Money for Fisheries and High School Fishing

For one night, the action on top of the ice supports what swims below it.

The Minnesota Wild Hockey organization has partnered with MN-FISH Sportfishing Foundation to raise awareness and monies for Minnesota fisheries and high school fishing teams.

Anglers and hockey fans collide in St. Paul, MN at the Excel Energy center when the Wild meet the Colorado Avalanche March 23RD. A unique pre-game event brings 3 of Minnesota’s most respected anglers, Ron Schara, Steve Pennaz and Chip Leer, center stage to discuss Minnesota fishing, share tips and poke-check some fun with the State of Hockey anglers in attendance.

Special tickets have been set aside that will raise money for MN-FISH Sportfishing Foundation and high school fishing programs statewide. Every ticket purchased thru this program will receive a MN Wild branded Rapala Lure and opportunity to connect with Minnesota Fishing Legends at the pre-game event.

Hockey fans are encouraged to bring used rods & reels to the game as the non-profit organization Fishing for Life will be re-furbishing and re-distributing to youth anglers in need across Minnesota.

“The MN Wild promotes a campaign celebrating neighborhood hockey played on our ponds and lakes called “This is OUR ICE”. MN-FISH is dedicated to the protection, preservation of these aquatic natural resources and supports equal access for all”, stated: Chip Leer, Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame Angler and MN-FISH Board Member.

MN-FISH is a non-profit organization committed to providing visionary leadership and advocates for the best interest of Minnesota’s anglers and fishing industry stakeholders. The State of Fishing has over 10,000 lakes, rivers and streams with over 90,000 miles of shoreline. The industry supports 43,000 jobs and generates 4.2 Billion dollars in economic impact. Minnesota ranks 2nd nationally in resident fishing participation and consistently within the top 3 most popular fishing destinations in the nation. Minnesota has truly earned its reputation and title as the …..”State of Fishing”.
