Bond Arms® Wins Fastest Derringer 20 Years in a Row

Bond Arms® claims both men's and women's categories at the End of Trail World Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting event.

Granbury, TX - For the 20th year in a row, a Bond Arms® handgun was used to win the Fastest Derringer in one of the many side matches held as part of The Single Action Shooting Society's® (SASS) End of Trail World Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting. The event was held June 18-28, 2019 at the Founder's Ranch in Edgewood, NM. A Bond Arms handgun was not used to win just the men's or the women's side match, a Bond Arms® break-action pistol won both!

In the women's category for Fastest Derringer, Danielle Martin from Texas, outshot approximately 15 other female competitors, delivering two accurate rounds in just .67 seconds on her target. Competitors hit a timer and then fire as quickly as they can either a shot at each of the two side-by-side targets or two shots into the same target.

"A Bond Arms® derringer has been used to win this event 20 years in a row. It's the only gun I've ever used, and the only one I ever will use," said Martin, who competes under the moniker "Hey You." Now, with her husband, actually works for Bond Arms® as an event coordinator. In that role, she helps organize and attend sales and marketing functions and events for the company.

Martin's father got her interested in competitive cowboy action shooting at the early age of 17. Now, 17 years later, the fierce competitor has seven derringer world championships to her credit. In winning this year, Martin used a fully custom, engraved Bond Arms® Cowboy™ model.

"It's really fun to shoot something that small, that fast and hit your target reliably every time," said Martin. "Shooting a single-action handgun that is capable of doing that over and over, after shooting thousands of rounds, and I can still depend on it to perform like that when it matters is a testament to how well designed and built Bond Arms® handguns are."

In the men's Fastest Derringer competition, Mike Wilcox of California, competing as "Smokestack," won the titleshooting his target in a blistering .39 seconds. It was his third championship for Fastest Derringer. He won his first championship shooting a borrowed Bond Arms® handgun; the next two he was shooting his own. He competes using a special edition Bond Arms® model that has since been discontinued. The Brown Bear™ was made specifically for sale in California where the guns are restricted to only California-legal barrels.

"When I first began competing, it didn't take me long to realize if I wanted to win, I would need to shoot a Bond Arms® gun," said Wilcox. "Nothing else comes close to the dependability these guns deliver. In all the rounds I've fired and all the rounds I've seen fired through Bond Arms® firearms, I have never witnessed a single malfunction because of the gun."

Bond Arms® congratulates both Martin and Wilcox, as well as all the winners at this year's End of Trail.

"Cowboy Action Shooting continues to soar in popularity and for those who have never experienced it, it is really a lot of fun," says Bond Arms® President, Gordon Bond. "We are proud Bond Arms® continues to be so well represented in the competition and look forward to the chance of claiming number 21 next year."

BOND ARMS, INC. is located in Granbury, Texas and manufactures the award-winning Bond Arms Derringer - the finest in double barrel protection. Originally organized under the name Texas Armory, the company became incorporated as Bond Arms in 1995 with the idea that the Remington Model 95 over-under, single-action derringer could be converted from an Old West anachronism into a modern & reliable handgun. The barrel and frame were redesigned to safely fire modern calibers & the entire handgun is constructed entirely from stainless steel. This makes for a pistol that's both strong and durable.
