TAC Vanes Shines at ASA Delta Makenzie Classic

>>Team Shooters, Levi Morgan, Dan McCarthy, Sharon Wallace, Emily McCarthy, Jeff Raney, Robert Householder, Dane Johnson, Tony Tazza, and Allen Conner all receive podium finishes in Alabama.

Thursday, August 4, 2022 – Atlanta, GA – TAC Vanes, maker of the world’s most accurate vanes, had an incredible team showing at the ASA Classic in Cullman, Alabama this past weekend with several top-three finishes across men’s and women’s divisions and for the Shooter of the Year (SOY) title.

In the Open Pro division, Levi Morgan went into the shoot-off with just a two-point lead over Dan McCarthy but came out on top, winning first place in the division. Morgan shot three 2.75” Driver vanes on Gold Tip 9.3 shafts. McCarthy placed third, shooting four 2.25” Driver vanes on Black Eagle PS26 shafts.

In the Women’s Pro division, Sharon Wallace entered the shoot-off with a seven-point lead over the second-seeded archer, Emily McCarthy. Wallace racked up a high-enough score by the end of the shoot-off that she didn’t need to shoot her final arrow.

“Sharon had an impressive and dominant performance both this weekend and for the 3D season,” said Randy Groff, director of outdoor products, TAC Vanes.

Wallace finished first, shooting four 1.75” Matrix vanes on Black Eagle PS26 shafts. McCarthy (Emily) finished third, shooting four 2.25” Driver vanes on Black Eagle PS23 shafts.

In the Known Pro division, TAC Vanes’ shooters swept the podium with top-three finishes by Jeff Raney (first place), Robert Householder (second place), and Dane Johnson (third place). Raney, still hot from his win last month at ASA Illinois, came into the classic shoot-off with a two-point lead over teammate Householder.

Raney shot four 2.75” Driver vanes on Gold Tip X-Cutter shafts. Householder shot four 2.25” Driver vanes on Easton SuperDrive 25 shafts. Johnson shot three 2.75” Driver vanes on Gold Tip Triple X shafts.

Tony Tazza and Allen Conner finished the tournament strong as they stood atop the podium in the Senior Pro division. Tazza was trailing the leader by only three points, allowing him to maintain his second-place spot. Conner was able to secure third place.

Tazza shot four 2” Driver vanes on Easton SuperDrive 23 shafts. Conner shot three 2.75” Driver vanes on Black Eagle PS26 shafts.

The highly coveted SOY award is held this year by Dan McCarthy for the men and by Sharon Wallace for the women.

“Both shooters showed great consistency and drive this year and are incredibly deserving of this title!” shared Groff.

For the women, standing alongside Sharon Wallace on the podium was Emily McCarthy who came in second place for this season’s Shooter of the Year title.

Second place is held this season by Raney, while Householder, Tazza, and Jack Wallace (another team TAC shooter) hold third for this year’s SOY title. The latter three men competed together on the final day where Wallace managed to pull ahead slightly.

In all, it was a busy weekend in Alabama with fierce competition and major accomplishments of those on the TAC Vanes' team.
