Gemini Customs Revolvers In Sept/Oct Handgunner

“Seek perfection — but demand excellence.”

Marc Morganti, owner of Gemini Customs, believes in the old saying, which is evident in the work he performed on a quartet of Rugers featured in the September/October issue of American Handgunner.

The Rugers — an SP101, a .44 Special and two GP100s — received the royal treatment from the respected master of custom revolver gunsmithing. Standout features include custom-machined front sights, polished cylinder faces, crowned muzzles, gold highlights, smoothed DA triggers and exotic wood revolver grips. But they’re not just beauties to be admired in a display case. Publisher Roy Huntington ran roughly 200 rounds through each and was left “astonished.”

To show these guns in action, Roy hosted Handgunner’s first video in the new online series, “Insider Action.” View “The Latest In Wheelguns!” on FMG’s YouTube channel by visiting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfhNC-2AKi8

An eminently capable “holster pistol” for duty, home defense or open carry, the APX from Beretta packs many of today’s “necessary” features — such as ambidextrous controls, bold, adjustable sights and easy take down — into an affordably attractive full-sized defensive option. Contributing Editor J.B. Wood lends, “It would be perfect for open carry if you do such a thing. Mine now resides in the headboard of my bed.”

Handgunner’s own Jeff “Tank” Hoover referred to this issue’s Handgun Of The Month top prize — a Kimber EVO SP(Custom Shop Special) — as the “crown jewel” of the EVO SP line. The winner will receive their own model in 9mm as well as a VZ Grips Executive G10 Dagger, Hackett Equipment Tactical Shooting Glasses and Little Bertha Backpack. The package is valued at $1,221.98. Added highlights of the Sept/Oct issue include “Must-Haves For The DIY Gunner” outlined in the Pistolsmithing column. Greg Derr stands by his 5" benchtop vise, and shares an ingenious use for old golf balls and hand files. Ray Fleck’s “Eating Crow” may ring familiar with more than a few as rapid changes in technology warrant keeping an “open mind” in the firearms world. The Taurus TX22 looks the part of a defensive 9mm, but inside lurks the heart of a .22 LR; David Freeman explains why in “A .22 In 9mm Clothing.” The Ayoob Files features the stories of five women who prevailed over violent attacks, and how, when it comes to survival, “using enough gun” can be the difference between life and death.
