Truex Earns Come-From-Behind Win at Dover

Truex earns come-from-behind victory at Dover’s Monster Mile

DOVER, Del. – Piloting the No. 19 Toyota Camry, Martin Truex, Jr. overcame pre-race inspection penalties, resulting in him starting from the rear, to conquer Dover’s Monster Mile and win the rain-delayed Gander RV 400 at Dover International Speedway. Truex passed Alex Bowman on the final lap for the Stage 2 win—his first stage win of the season—and went on to earn his second victory in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this year.

The victory was the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series Champion’s 21st career win in the top series and the third at his ‘home track.’

After 11 starts, in addition to the two wins, Truex owns three top-fives and six top-10s. Truex is securely locked into the playoffs with 11 bonus points being awarded today. As the newest member of Joe Gibbs Racing in 2019, Truex’s No. 19 features Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER paint schemes during 24 races this season.

Bass Pro Shops previously sponsored Truex from 2004 and 2009 while part of Dale Earnhardt Inc. This stretch included two Xfinity Series championships for Truex – 2004 and 2005.
