Duck Stamp Collector funds Junior Scholarship

The recipients of the inaugural Sid Crawford Memorial Scholarship Award have been announced the National Duck Stamp Collectors Society.

Sid Crawford was a NDSCS member and an avid duck stamp collector. Mr. Crawford was especially interested in and supportive of the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program and its very talented young artists. After his death in July 2018, his family established this annual scholarship award to honor his memory.

The NDSCS Board voted on the individual state contest entries submitted by students who were seniors in high school. From that group, a first, second and third place winner was selected. The overall winner of this year's Junior contest was Nicole Jeon of New York. Ms. Jeon is not a senior and therefore did not qualify for this award.

Winners of the Crawford Memorial Scholarship Award were Hannah Schrieber of Duffield, Va. (first place), Etta Gallaway, Bowling Green, Ohio (second place) and Larissa Weber, Anderson, Ind. (third place).

The National Duck Stamp Collectors Society hopes that the artists enjoyed the experience and that in addition to learning more about conservation, they developed an appreciation for the history and importance of the duck stamp program.
