WHAT: A dedication ceremony for Indiana’s 300th nature preserve, Toothwort Woods, which is noted for its scenic beauty and biological significance.
WHEN: Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m.
WHERE: Crosley Fish & Wildlife Area, 1502 S. 75 W., North Vernon, IN 47265
*Signs will indicate where to park and vans will take attendees from the parking area to the dedication site.
WHO:
BACKGROUND: The 300th Nature Preserve, to be named Toothwort Woods, comprises 101 acres of Crosley Fish & Wildlife Area. The diverse natural upland forests, the Vernon Fork of the Muscatatuck River, and limestone bedrock ravines support habitat for rare animals and plants, including all four of Indiana’s native toothwort plant species. The dedication event is outdoors and involves a short, guided hike on uneven terrain.
