Windham Man Dies While Refueling Boat

The Maine Warden Service is assisting the Windham Police Department, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office with the investigation of a death of a 78-year-old Windham male.

At approximately 4:15 this afternoon, Windham Police received a call about a man that was floating face down in Little Sebago Lake in the area of the Outlet Cove Road in the town of Windham.

The initial investigation indicates that Allan Ryder, age 78 of Windham was refueling his boat that was tied to the dock when vapors ignited, and Ryder either jumped or fell into the water.

Windham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on scene and provided medical attention, but Mr. Ryder was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation. This release will be updated if any new information becomes available.
