Team Krieghoff Posts Big Wins at 2021 Sporting Clays Nationals

Team Krieghoff took on Texas sized winds and challenging targets at the 2021 Sporting Clays National Championships with their trademark championship style. Team members Mike Wilgus, Nicolas Berry, Shelby Moon, and Karen Shedd posted stand out performances.

Over 2,000 shooters traveled to San Antonio, TX for the competition, where top-notch Sporting Clays champion and multi-time All-American Mike Wilgus took the podium as 5-Stand Champion.

“It felt great to win my second National 5-Stand title with my Parcours- X. It was my first event at the Nationals and I was quite confident even after a 22 on the first layout,” says Wilgus. I ended with 95/100, and I knew it was a good score - which held up all week. “

Shelby Moon continued her strong tournament season and captured the Lady 5-Stand Championship title.

5- Stand Third place finisher Nicolas Berry claimed the Main Event International Champion title at the 2021 NSCA Sporting Clays Championship for the second year in the row. Nicolas faced a field of over 100 international competitors and clinched the title by a solid eight targets over his closest competitor.

“Winning the main international champion title for the 2nd year in a row felt special as there was added pressure because of last year’s win,” related Nicolas. “It felt even more special as it is very likely that I will never be able to do it again… I am crossing my fingers, but I am very hopeful that I will shoot my next Nationals as a US citizen!”

Current All-American Lady points leader Karen Shedd put Team Krieghoff on the FITASC podium with her Lady Runner Up finish, and Main Event podium as Lady 3rd. Karen finished as one of the top five ladies in Super Sporting, an event where her coach Gebben Miles placed 3rd overall.

Team Krieghoff Lady shooters made their presence known in the Main Event with Katie Fox’s Lady M1, Janet McDougall’s Lady M2 and Shelby Moon’s top ten Lady finishes.

K-80 shooters stepped up for the Krieghoff sponsored K-Kup event. Jasper Copelan was crowned K-Kup Champion with a near perfect 98. Mike Wilgus posted a top five K-Kup finish, as did Reanna Frauens in the Lady category.

Other notable Krieghoff performances posted by Kevin DeMichiel, Michael Luongo, Jr., Joseph Zeitler, Will Fennell, and Scott Robertson highlighted the largest Sporting Clays championship event held annually.
