Ever thought about hunting one of Michigan’s managed waterfowl areas but just haven’t taken the time to do it?

Jump into this spring’s Explore MI Wetland Wonders contest to see what they have to offer, and then come back this fall to hunt.

Scattered across the state, Michigan’s Wetland Wonders provide great year-round recreation opportunities like birding, boating, fishing, hiking, photography and hunting.

Michigan's Wetland Wonders are high-quality wetland areas managed to provide habitat for waterfowl and water birds while offering great outdoor recreation opportunities. These areas are funded by hunting license fees, but are open for anyone to visit, use and enjoy most of the year. The locations are:

• Upper Peninsula: Portage Marsh State Wildlife Management Area (Delta County) and Munuscong State Wildlife Management Area (Chippewa County).
• Northern Michigan: Manistee Marsh at Manistee River State Game Area (Manistee County) and Houghton Lake Flats State Wildlife Management Area (Roscommon County).
• Saginaw Bay area: Wigwam Bay State Wildlife Area (Arenac County), Nayanquing Point State Wildlife Area (Bay County), Fish Point State Wildlife Area (SWA) (Tuscola County), Crow Island State Game Area (Saginaw County) and Shiawassee River State Game Area (Saginaw County).
• Southwest Michigan: Fennville Farm Unit at the Allegan State Game Area (Allegan County), Maple River State Game Area (Gratiot and Clinton Counties) and Muskegon County Wastewater Facility(Muskegon County).
• Southeast Michigan: St. Clair Flats State Wildlife Area on Harsens Island (St. Clair County) and Pointe Mouillee State Game Area (Monroe and Wayne counties).
