CMP ‘Busts’ Ranges with New Sanitation Equipment

Who ya gonna call…to clean the range?

Employee Sean Elftmann recently demonstrated CMP’s new procedure of sanitizing the firing line, using a ghost-busting-type machine – actually a Petra fogger pack. The process is used at Camp Perry for Open Public time slots and matches held on the facility’s Petrarca Range, an outdoor electronic target line, as well as at CMP’s air gun ranges in Ohio (Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center) and Alabama (South Competition Center).

Instead of extracted ghosts, the Petra pack is filled with a mix of hydrogen peroxide and other disinfecting ingredients. A quick spray until damp to the touch, a short wait time of 5-10 minutes and the firing line is sterilized and ready for the next group of competitors and guests.

“Not as cool as capturing ghosts,” Elftmann joked. “But it is effective in helping us keep as safe as we can for our guests to the range.”

This is just one of the many ways the CMP is taking steps to ensure safety for staff and competitors as we continue to enjoy the sport we love!
