Montana: State Trail Advisory Committee to Meet March 22 and 23

HELENA – The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks State Trails Advisory Committee (STAC) will meet March 22 and 23.

The group will meet in person, at the Great Falls Region 4 office in the public conference room; a virtual option will also be available. On March 22, the meeting will run from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., and continue on March 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The STAC advises FWP on trail issues in Montana, including funding, use and the promotion of recreational trails across land ownership. The group is made up of 10 members, including: Kristi Drake, Billings; Robert Long, Polson; Julie Riley, Volborg; Madelon Martin, Eureka; Mike Patterson, Butte; Alice Santos, Helena; Mark Smolen, Bigfork; Virginia Sullivan, Missoula; Bob Walker, Clancy; and Brenda Maas, Billings.

On March 22, STAC will be reviewing Recreational Trail Grant (RTP) applications and discussing project impacts, and on March 23 the STAC will review Montana Trail Stewardship Grant (MTSGP) application scores and discussing project impacts. STAC will provide recommendations to FWP staff for regarding funding for both RTP and MTSGP grant programs.

The FWP Region 4 office public conference room is located at 4600 Giant Springs Road in Great Falls. The meeting is open to the public, and public comment will be taken each day. The meeting agenda is posted online and the meeting will be streamed live via Zoom on the State Trails Advisory Committee webpage.
