Louisiana S3DA Hosts Indoor 3-D Regional

Williamsburg, KY - Hoot & Holler Training Academy hosted the Ark-La-Tex Archery Festival at the Louisiana fairgrounds in Shreveport, Louisiana. There were 6 indoor tournaments conducted under one roof, which included: Shoot your way across the bayou (SYWAB), LFAA Vegas Indoor State Championship, JOAD State Championship, Open Indoor 3-D Tournament, NASP Tournament and the 1st Louisiana S3DA Indoor 3-D regional tournament. Louisiana S3DA had a booth set-up at the event for archers that were not a part of S3DA to become new members and there was a lot of interest and many compliments on the program.

There were approximately 75 spectators on hand with 26 S3DA participants from 3 different S3DA clubs. The students had a wonderful time shooting and each was excited for the next shoot. The parents were very impressed with the facilities and how well organized everything was ran. Many parents stated that they truly enjoyed the shoot.

The biggest takeaway from this event was the display of sportsmanship. Shooters with scoring experience were helping all the other shooters and teaching them how to score 3-D. S3DA has established sportsmanlike rules for all S3DA sanctioned events, but it is so nice to see students go above and beyond to make sure every archer feels comfortable and understands.

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving

thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
