Camfour Inc and Hill Country Wholesale, leading distributors of firearms and shooting related accessories, is seeking an experience and self-directed Buyer/Product Line Manager. This position, which reports to the Purchasing Manager, is responsible for managing the growth, profitability and inventory of select shooting sports vendors.
Goals:
- Increase turns of select vendors and items
- Grow sales of select vendors
- Improve communication between purchasing and sales
Responsibilities
- Review select vendors and purchase product to increase dealer fill rate while also maximizing inventory turns
- Identify which products should be purchased, when and in what quantities
- Identify slow moving inventory and establish programs to reduce it
- Identify pricing for all purchased items
- Work with sales to improve fill rate, turns, vendor and product growth
- Work with vendors to develop special programs
- Utilize ERP system to manage vendor product lines
Requirements
- Advanced understanding of buying
- At least 5 years buying firearms, ammunition and accessories, ideally at a distributor
- Strong understanding of firearms industry
- Experience with ERP systems
- Basic MS Excel and Word experience
Education and Experience
- B. S. degree in supply chain management or logistics. A Purchasing or Supply Chain certification is preferred
- Ability to work in home office or in our Austin, TX or Westfield, MA locations
- Experience increasing the turns and growth of shooting sports product lines
- Strong communication skills
- Takes initiative to proactively manage vendors and inventory
- Strong understanding of purchasing fundamentals
