USA Bass Team Member David Fritts Cranks in Gold Medal in Mexico

USA Bass Team Wins World Championship with David Fritts!!

State College, PA – November 19, 2018

Make no mistake Mexico’s Lake Cuchillo is a big fish haven. David Fritts of the USA Bass team was ready for the challenge. The USA Bass team used Fritts' crankbait expertise to propel the team to World Championship Gold! “I really had confidence that we could find some fish that the other teams weren’t keying on” said Fritts, ”During practice we tried different patterns and presentations and it became evident that the big fish were deep. It is so much fun to tie on a deep diver and whack ‘em.” Said Fritts with a wide grin.

When it was determined that crankbaits were in the mix, USA Bass knew it had a trump card in Fritts. “David became our key advisor” said team manager John Knight, “His experience and insight proved invaluable for our team. David is a world class angler and even better teammate. USA Bass is blessed to have him on the team.” The team developed a Gold medal plan with the help of Fritts and executed it with precision. Captain Scott Martin, David Dudley, Terry Bolton, Scott Canterbury, David Fritts, Fred Roumbanis and James Watson had a two day total of 135# 6 oz, followed by Mexico 95# 10 oz and Italy 75# 12 oz. Defending champion South Africa finished in 4th place and Canada made the top five in their first World Championship.

The USA Bass team is leading an international effort to make bass fishing an Olympic sport. The World Championship was hosted by Mexico and featured anglers from Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. A record 15 nations competed in the World Championship. The event was vivid evidence that bass fishing is growing in popularity worldwide. The world championship will be headed to South Africa in 2019 followed by the United States in 2020. Famed Lake Murray in Columbia, South Carolina will be the site when the United States hosts the World Championship for the first time. “USA Bass is determined to push the number of countries involved over the 20 mark” said USA Bass President Tony Forte, “Lake Murray is an iconic location and Capital City Lake Murry RTB is the title sponsor for USA Bass. The world is excited to fish at Lake Murray and to visit the United States, the “birthplace” of bass fishing”
