Defending champion South Africa finished in 4th place and Canada made the top five in their first World Championship.

The World Championship was hosted by Mexico and featured anglers from Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. A record 15 nations competed in the World Championship. The event was vivid evidence that bass fishing is growing in popularity worldwide. The world championship will be headed to South Africa in 2019 followed by the United States in 2020.
