Youth Shooting Sports Alliance Industry Donors Recognized

Omaha, NE – The Youth Shooting Sports Alliance (YSSA) recently recognized three longtime supporters of the program for their donations and commitment to the continued development of youth shooting sports across the country.

Cyndi Flannigan, Executive Director of the YSSA, recognized Savage Arms, O.F. Mossberg & Sons and Birchwood Casey at the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) annual convention in Pittsburgh in October 2018.

“These three companies have been, and will continue to be, advocates for youth shooting programs through the YSSA,” according to Flannigan. “They recognize the uniqueness of what we do to offer youth programs high-quality firearms and accessories on a loaner basis throughout the year. No other organization in the country does what we do.

“Without support from Savage, Mossberg and Birchwood Casey, youth programs would struggle with equipment needs, making it difficult for youth getting into the sport,” Flannigan said. “We thank these companies for their longtime commitment. Their generosity, along with individual contributors to the YSSA, is the reason we’re able to support youth shooting and hunting programs with safe, reliable equipment.”

Savage Arms, as represented by Rob Gates, Vice President of Sales, has been a generous supporter of the YSSA since 2007. They provide new firearms and equipment on an annual basis.

O.F. Mossberg & Sons also provides firearms annually, ensuring youth programs will have quality products for a safe, enjoyable experience. Linda Powell, Director of Media Relations, accepted the award from Flannigan.

Mike Wenner, President, also was recognized for donations of cleaning equipment, targets, gun cases and other accessories. Birchwood Casey is a multi-year donor.

The Youth Shooting Sports Alliance was founded in 2007, an offshoot of the National 4-H Youth Shooting Sports program. To date, the YSSA has loaned more than $1.5 million in equipment to youth programs across the country, benefitting more than 85,000 youth.
