Dorsey Pictures Celebrates 20-year Anniversary

Chris Dorsey Shares Secrets of Company Growth with Realscreen Magazine

Castle Rock, Colorado--Officials from Dorsey Pictures announce that they are celebrating the companies’ 20th anniversary in 2021. Over the last 2 decades, Dorsey Pictures has grown into the world’s largest producer of outdoor programming, creating 56 series for outdoor TV and more than 50 series with outdoor roots for mainstream cable networks. President and CEO Chris Dorsey shares insights learned along the way in a recent interview in Realscreen Magazine.

For over 20 years, Dorsey Pictures has worked with the largest brands in the outdoor industry as the leader in branded entertainment. The Colorado-based company has produced more than 2,000 episodes of outdoor programming and has amassed a 100,000+ hour HD library of outdoor content from across the globe. After 10 years in the outdoor genre, the company expanded into mainstream programming while maintaining rural roots. “We look through the prism of a Heartland character — that’s kind of our DNA,” says Dorsey. “Many of the coastal-based networks are trying to appeal to the people we live among, but we have great connections and understanding, and we see them as characters, not caricatures.”

Dorsey Pictures was the only production company with outdoor ties to be named to Real Screen magazine’s annual Global 100 list in 2019 and again in 2020. The prestigious Global 100 list consists of the world’s largest and best production companies working in non-fiction and unscripted programming. In addition to outdoor programming, they’ve created dozens of outdoor-centric productions for mainstream networks including Discovery, National Geographic, History, Oxygen, WGN America, Nat Geo Wild, Travel, HGTV, DIY, Great American Country, and others. In additional to its television work, the company is in production with Wings over Water, an IMAX film narrated by Michael Keaton to be released in 2021.

Dorsey Pictures programming has featured notable talent including Tom Brokaw, Duane ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ Chapman, Liam Neeson, Ted Nugent, Huey Lewis, Marcus Luttrell, Gerald McRaney, Jimmy Kimmel, Flip Pallot, Jim Belushi, and Karl Malone.

Company co-founder Chris Dorsey formerly served as editor in chief of Sports Afield and Ducks Unlimited magazines, is the author of 12 books, and is a regular contributor to Forbes. His work also has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic, Newsweek, and The Robb Report. He's among the world's most widely traveled hunters having taken the 29 big game species of North America, the deadly seven species of Africa, the spiral horns of Africa and the wild turkey world slam. He's also served in board and advisory positions of numerous conservation and sporting advocacy organizations.

Denver-based Dorsey Pictures is part of Red Arrow Studios, a wholly owned subsidiary of ProSieben Sat 1, Germany's largest media company with networks and platforms throughout Europe. Dorsey is America's leading producer of lifestyle programming seen throughout the world on linear television and streaming platforms.
