Murphy will remain as CEO with the aim of continuing to grow the company’s leadership role in the shooting sports industry.
“I first became involved with Buds as a customer over twenty years ago. In 2010, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to buy into the business working alongside founder Bud Wells, until his retirement in 2014, and President Rex McClanahan. I’m very proud of all we’ve accomplished together. At this time, Rex has decided to pursue other well-deserved interests. I thank Rex for all he has done and wish him great future success,” said Murphy.
Murphy began his career in banking in 1993. For over 30 years he has been an active member of the Lexington business community serving on multiple boards. His outside interests include hunting, aviation, raising thoroughbred horses, and supporting his University of Kentucky Wildcats.
