Alexis Wilkins, Director of Strategic Communications for Women for Gun Rights (WGR), recently appeared on the Ava Flanell Show to discuss Montana’s groundbreaking steps in advancing Second Amendment protections and WGR’s mission to empower women and men in defending their constitutional rights.

In her conversation with host Ava Flanell, Wilkins celebrated Montana’s leadership in safeguarding gun rights and its pioneering step as the first state to enact the Right to Compute Act, signed into law by Governor Greg Gianforte on April 17, 2025. The law codifies Montanans’ right to own and use computational technology, such as hardware, software, and 3D printers, which Wilkins noted is critical for gun owners as a “Digital Second Amendment.” It further ensures Montanans can utilize tools like CAD files and 3D printers without government restrictions, reinforcing the right to self-defense through modern technology.

“People don't really understand how important the relationship between the First Amendment and the Second Amendment,” Wilkins said. “But if they are passionate about the First Amendment, they should immediately and automatically be passionate about the Second Amendment. I think this (law) sets precedent for potentially other states to be able to protect Second Amendment laws without naming guns and will be huge moving forward.”

Wilkins also emphasized WGR’s commitment to countering heavily funded anti-gun groups like Moms Demand Action, which receive millions from liberal political figures like Michael Bloomberg. She highlighted the failures of gun-free zones, which have endangered communities, and stressed the importance of equipping women with the resources and confidence to protect themselves.
