Southlake, Texas – One of the most legendary outdoor television shows is making a heartfelt return. Spanish Fly, the groundbreaking fishing and adventure series originally hosted by the late Jose Wejebe, will return to screens in 2026 through a powerful collaboration between Jose’s daughter, Krissy Wejebe, and Outdoor America, led by Emmy-nominated producer James Marko.
Beloved by millions for its fusion of cutting-edge angling, cinematic storytelling, and the unmistakable charisma of Jose Wejebe, Spanish Fly redefined outdoor programming and became the highest-rated saltwater fishing show ever made. While Jose’s unexpected passing in 2012 left a profound void, his legacy lives on through his foundation, his family, and the unforgettable stories captured on film.
Now, more than a decade later, Krissy Wejebe is honoring her father’s mission by reviving Spanish Fly—a revival that will bring Jose’s spirit back to the water, with storytelling that blends the past and present. James Marko joins as co-host, helping bridge the generational legacy.
“My dad didn’t just change the way people fish—he changed the way they feel about fishing. He brought heart, humility, and curiosity to every cast, and that’s what made Spanish Fly more than a show—it became a connection,” said Krissy Wejebe. “‘Fishing for the next generation’ wasn’t just a tagline for him, it was his mission. Now, with this incredible team and new journey ahead, we’re not just keeping his legacy alive—we’re passing it on. Because let’s be honest… the world could use a little more Jose.”
The new Spanish Fly will air on Outdoor America’s 87-million household broadcast platform, along with Samsung TV Plus and Amazon Prime. A blend of all-new episodes and “Best Of” originals will roll out across two quarters, reaching 34% of U.S. TV households and offering fans both nostalgia and fresh adventure.
“Jose was a pioneer,” said James Marko, executive producer of the series. “Recreating Spanish Fly alongside Krissy and the people who knew and worked with Jose best is an honor. This isn’t a reboot—it’s a revival of something sacred.”
“There’s never been another show like Spanish Fly—nothing even comes close,” said Jamie Wilkinson, Executive Vice President of Outdoor America. “And that’s not just me saying it to be nice—it’s still the highest-rated saltwater fishing show ever made. I had the privilege of working with Jose personally, so I saw firsthand the magic he brought to the screen. We couldn’t be more honored to help continue that legacy with Krissy and those closest to him. At Outdoor America, we believe in family—and this revival is about bringing Jose’s spirit back to the water for the next generation.”
As part of the revival, Spanish Fly and Outdoor America will also spotlight the Jose Wejebe Spanish Fly Memorial Foundation, founded in April 2012 to carry on Jose’s legacy. The foundation is dedicated to making fishing dreams come true for those facing life-changing challenges, while honoring Jose’s passion for the ocean and commitment to giving back through meaningful, on-the-water experiences.
Episodes are currently in production and set to premiere in early 2026. Viewers can expect breathtaking destinations, emotional storytelling, and the same authenticity that made Spanish Fly a beloved name in outdoor television.
