Seufert Construction, which last month won the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Indiana and Kentucky’s Excellence in Construction Award of Merit for its work to expand Lincoln Amphitheatre, recognized the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as project owner at the facility yesterday.
The amphitheatre is in Lincoln State Park (on.IN.gov/LincolnSP) in Lincoln City.
The expansion added two 250-seat areas as well as two patios that allow the selling of 200 additional tickets for each event, increasing overall capacity from 1,500 to 2,200. The project also included a new restroom building, conversion of the old gift shop/museum building into the new alcohol sales building, and a remodel of the concessions building. New siding and roofs were installed on all buildings in the complex, and a new patio and a picnic area with overhead lighting were added.
“This expansion project greatly improved the amphitheatre, adding yet another reason to visit our scenic, historic park, which also offers 10 miles of hiking trails; rolling forested hills, and two lakes,” said Joe Compton, the park’s property manager.
Marc Steczyk, the amphitheatre’s director, wrote in his letter of recommendation to ABC that “the expansion project has significantly enhanced the Lincoln Amphitheatre’s ability to provide an outstanding experience for our patrons.”
Even with the increased capacity, six of the amphitheatre’s 10 music nights sold out, and total revenue increased more than 24% over the prior year, Steczyk said.
