WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. – Wildlife Forever is proud to recognize the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation for its support of the 2020 State-Fish Art Contest. By teaching the Art of Conservation®, this new partnership promises to hook youth into fish and fishing.

In recognition of this partnership, Wildlife Forever announces a new award category in the State-Fish Art Contest, the “Guy Harvey Award.” Highlighting saltwater State-Fish and their role in balanced ocean ecosystems, contestants will create art featuring a saltwater or anadromous state-fish and write an essay that spotlights the species role in the ocean and conservation needs. All state winners of the contest will receive special Guy Harvey merchandise and be eligible for a signed Guy Harvey print.

Greg Jacoski, executive director of the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, stated “This program is an incredible model of integrating art into youth conservation education. The State-Fish Art Contests seamlessly blends science and art, reaching youth and inspiring them to become artists, anglers and conservationists just like our founder, Dr. Guy Harvey.”

“Guy Harvey is a well-known name in the arts, conservation and research community. I’m thrilled that we’re working together to encourage and get more youth engaged into fish and fishing through the arts,” said Pat Conzemius, president and CEO of Wildlife Forever.

The award-winning Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art® Contest, connects youth, art and aquatic conservation together! To enter, artists create an original illustration of any official state-fish and written words detailing its behavior, habitat, and efforts to conserve it. Entries are due postmarked by March 31st each year. For details on contest rules, entry forms and past winners, visit www.statefishart.org.
