Indiana: Gov. Holcomb proclaims this week SepticSmart Week

Gov. Eric J. Holcomb has proclaimed this as SepticSmart Week in Indiana.

Thirty-nine percent of Indiana’s population uses septic systems to treat wastewater from homes and businesses.

The Indiana DNR Lake Michigan Coastal Program (LMCP) and its state and local partners are participating in the annual EPA SepticSmart Week education and outreach efforts.

The SepticSmart program (epa.gov/septicsmart) educates homeowners about proper septic system care and maintenance throughout the year.

For more information on SepticSmart Week, the LMCP’s Clean Water Ambassador program, or to obtain copies of EPA SepticSmart brochures and the coordination workgroup’s outreach materials, see dnr.IN.gov/lakemich/10025.htm.

For information concerning local septic system regulations, contact the county health departments in your area.
