EDGEFIELD, S.C. — The National Wild Turkey Federation's Board Chairman Marvin Hartley recently announced the board has elected Harlan Starr as its new president.

“I’m proud to represent the NWTF’s volunteers who work so hard to protect our hunting heritage,” Starr said. “I pledge to give 100 percent of my time and talents to help the NWTF continue to be the best conservation organization in the country and promote the Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative.”

Starr, a dedicated turkey hunter and volunteer since 1984, has served on the NWTF's national board of directors since 2008.

In addition, Starr served on the Alabama NWTF State Board of Directors for 10 years, two terms as State Chapter president. He has worked as local chapter president, banquet chairman and district director. He has coordinated JAKES and Women in the Outdoors outreach events and has provided opportunities for people with disabilities to hunt on his farm.

“We congratulate Harlan as our new president,” NWTF CEO Becky Humphries said. “The NWTF looks forward to his leadership on the board as we continue our efforts to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.”

This election of Starr followed the recent resignation of previous board president, Vincent Rosdahl, who the NWTF thanks for his past service on behalf of the organization's mission to conserve the wild turkey and preserve our hunting heritage.
