Missing Indiana Teen’s Body Found in St. Marys River

The body of a teen that went missing in the St. Marys River in Fort Wayne was recovered by searchers at 10:08 a.m. yesterday, just downstream from where he went missing Saturday evening.

Responders had been dispatched to the 3900 block of Old Mill Road for a person in the water at approximately 7:38 p.m. last evening. Witnesses said the teen was wading in the area and was swept downstream before going under the surface of the water.

Responders searched the area until nightfall and resumed operations this morning.

The teen was located by Indiana Conservation Officers using sonar and recovered by Fort Wayne Fire Department divers.

The investigation is ongoing. Cause of death is pending autopsy results.
