Whitetails Unlimited has expended $40,000 towards youth and veteran deer hunts that takes place near Ville Platte, Louisiana. The hunts are organized by the WTU Southwest Louisiana Chapter located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The chapter takes 15 to 20 individuals annually who may not otherwise have the opportunity to hunt deer. All expenses are paid for including lodging, food, and taxidermist cost for successful hunters.
The Southwest Louisiana Chapter started these hunts 15 years ago. The hunts began as youth hunts but quickly grew to incorporate veterans and first responders. Each individual that participates in the hunt must attend an orientation on safe hunting practices, shot placement, and marksmanship. The chapter has taken approximately 300 individuals since the launch of these hunts.
