Whitetails Unlimited Presents 2019 Hunting Heritage Award to Realtree

WTU award recognizes achievement by a company for leadership and accomplishment in the areas of conservation, education, and the preservation of the hunting tradition.

Realtree, the Columbus, Georgia, camouflage company, has been awarded the 2019 Whitetails Unlimited Hunting Heritage Award. Realtree received the award as a result of the company’s leadership in the outdoor industry, and their constant support of hunters, conservationists, and regulated hunting.

“The Realtree history is well known, and the company was created with talent, hard work, and not a small amount of audacity,” said WTU President Jeff Schinkten. “Bill Jordan started the camouflage revolution, and now Realtree is known by everyone who enjoys the great outdoors. Realtree has also been a constant supporter of hunters and conservationists, providing vision, information, and promotion of the outdoor lifestyle.”

The Hunting Heritage Award is presented by Whitetails Unlimited in recognition of leadership and accomplishment in the areas of conservation, education, and the preservation of the hunting tradition – the essence of the mission of Whitetails Unlimited. It is the most prominent award presented by Whitetails Unlimited to a company in the outdoor industry.

Realtree began when Jordan started sketching a camo pattern based on an oak tree in his parent’s front yard in 1986. Learning as he went on, he had to figure out textile manufacturing, marketing, clothing assembly and sales, and the key to the company’s success – licensing to other companies. Through it all, Realtree has remained focused on providing great products for the customers, and supporting their passion for the outdoors.

“We’re extremely proud to present this award to Realtree. They are a classic American success story, and continue to improve, expand, and get better,” said Schinkten. “Along this journey they have never forgotten about the things that made them successful: hard work, innovation, providing value, and supporting their customers. They have accomplished great things by leading in a great industry, and Whitetails Unlimited is honored to be able to recognize this outstanding ambassador of the conservation community.”
