(Washington, D.C.) - Monday, the Council to Advance Hunting and the Shooting Sports announced the election of a new chairman and six new members to itsBoard of Directors. Established in 2009, the Council was formed to ensure support for and active participation in hunting and the shooting sports. In the last decade, the Council has evolved as a leader in a national movement to recruit, retain and reactivate (R3) more hunters and target shooters. "While the board represents a diverse group of individuals and organizations, each exhibits a common core commitment to hunters and target shooters, and to conservation in America," stated John Frampton, CEO and President of the Council. Frampton continued, "The Council's Board of Directors plays a key role in the Council's success. It was their vision that helped to establish this organization just a few years ago, and they continue to fuel our growth and steadfast commitment to ensuring a bright and prosperous future for hunting and shooting sports in America."

The Council's new Board Members include:

Ryan Bronson, Director of Conservation and Public Policy, Vista Outdoor

Keith Enlow, Chief Executive Officer, USA Shooting

Brian Murphy, Cheif Executive Officer, Quality Deer Management Association

Erica Rhoad, Director of Hunting Policy, NRA/ILA

Chuck Sykes, Director, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

Mark Tisa, Director, Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife

The Council Board of Directors also elected a new Chairman. J.D. Strong, Director of the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, will assume the role of Chairman of the Board immediately. Strong has held the position of Director in Oklahoma for three years and has served on the Council's Board for the last two. Before election as Chairman, Strong was actively engaged in the Executive Committee of the Board. Chairman Strong commented, "What an honor to serve alongside this great group of board members. I have long been impressed by the CAHSS forward-thinking initiatives to grow the community of hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts, and I am very excited about what we can accomplish together in the coming years."

Frampton concluded, "These individuals have pledged their time and support to help the Council move forward towards achieving our goals, and for that, we are very grateful. With a full complement of Board Members, we look forward to expanding on our organization's successes in 2019."
