Michigan: Fall Family History Event returns to the Archives of Michigan

Whether you're just starting out tracing your family tree or you're already in the thick of research, you will find this year's event interesting and informative.

This year's event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Archives of Michigan in Lansing.

Together with our event partners the Michigan Genealogical Council and the Library of Michigan, we welcome special guest John Philip Colletta, Ph.D., a faculty member at the Institute of Genealogy & Historical Research and Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy. The popular author and lecturer offers four sessions at today's event:

  • Finding the Town of Origin: U.S. Sources for Discovering an Ancestor's Native Town Overseas
  • Lesser Used Federal Records: Sources of Rich Detail about Ancestors' Lives
  • The County Courthouse: Your "Trunk in the Attic"
  • Breaking through Brick Walls: Use your HEAD!

The early registration fee, available through Oct. 28, is $50 and includes a downloadable syllabus; an optional boxed lunch may be purchased for an additional $12.

Register now for the Fall Family History Event via Eventbrite.
