Women for Gun Rights Helps Train 1,885 Women in Firearm Safety

Women for Gun Rights is proud to announce that 1,885 women received hands-on firearm safety and marksmanship training during Rick Ector’s 14th Annual Firearm Training Event for Women, held July 26–27, 2025, at Recoil Firearms in Taylor, Michigan. Hosted by Rick’s Firearm Academy of Detroit, the event is offered free of charge and stands as the largest initiative of its kind in the United States.

“Events like these are transformative because they equip women with the skills and confidence to protect themselves while fostering a supportive community,” said Dianna Muller, founder of Women for Gun Rights. “We’re proud to stand with these women who are now prepared to be their own first responder.”

Marcy Jankovich, Michigan Director, and Candy Petticord, Ohio Director, were on-site to assist with coordination and support participants—many of whom were first-time shooters. Their presence reflects Women for Gun Rights’ mission to empower women through education and responsible firearm ownership.

Led by Rick Ector, NRA Board Member and founder of Legally Armed In Detroit (LAID), this annual event has now trained more than 10,000 women since its inception.
