SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Kyle Craven, of Mcclenny, Florida, and Danny Sheldon, of Newberry, Florida, weighed a two-fish limit that totaled 14.54 pounds to win the second regular-season event for the Florida West Division of the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s on May 30, at Crystal River, Florida. The team won a fully rigged Ranger RB190 boat prize package powered by a 90-horsepower, four-stroke Mercury outboard.
The team has much experience at the top of the IFA Redfish Tour leaderboard with several first-place finishes in Florida, South Carolina and Louisiana. Fishing under ideal conditions with clear water, the anglers ran 30 minutes to their fishing area where they sight-fished and blind-casted Berkley Gulp! soft plastics and spinner baits along shorelines.
“We felt good about the tournament going into it, but there are so many good teams,” said Craven. “So it always takes some luck. Today we got the right two bites.”
Along with the new Ranger RB190, the anglers added $2,160 in Anglers Advantage cash for a total of $29,160 in winnings.
Second-place finishers Pat Marsonek and Justin Ownby weighed a total of 13.66 pounds to win $3,260.
Sam Roberts, of Perry, Florida, and Chase Daniels, of Dunedin, Florida, brought 13.12 pounds to the scales to win the $2,083 third-place prize.
With rain forecasted, the anglers were surprised when the rain held off and offered perfect weather and a hot morning bite. The team made the long run north to fish the Steinhatchee area for their limit. Roberts and Daniels Power-Poled down on a school and went to work with Berkley Gulp! and spoons.
By taking advantage of the Anglers Advantage contingency program, the duo added an extra $1,000 for a total of $3,083.
The next stop for the IFA Redfish Tour is set for Georgetown, South Carolina, on June 6. Teams that compete in at least two regular-season events will be qualified for the 2020 IFA Redfish Tour Championship.
