Fire N The Hole has developed a fail proof trigger for a mechanical broadhead

Fire N The Hole has developed a trigger mechanism for the 1x4 inch Slang Blade which opens on impact every time. The bowhunters have named this mechanism the reverse scissors. A simple but effective mechanism which has become known by the bowhunters who use the 1x4 inch Slang Blade as a fail proof trigger. The reverse scissors will open every time.

The trigger mechanism of mechanical broadheads vary widely from company to company. There are front deploying, rear deploying, slip cams, and so on. All of these mechanisms work well for the most part, but there has to be some flaws with them, because everyone has heard a bow hunter say “it didn’t open”.

At Fire N The Hole when we designed our 1x4 inch Slang Blade mechanical we wanted something simple, fail proof, and reliable. The inventor put to use his 46 years of experience bowhunting and his extensive science background to come up with what bowhunters have dubbed the “Reverse Scissors” mechanism.

The reverse scissors mechanism is a pivoting mechanism rotating around a screw in the ferrule. With 2 ¼ inch cut on contact blade spaced 7/8 inch apart in the firing position. The base of the blades actually set on the opposite side of the ferrule from the point of that blade(kind of like scissors). The cut on contact point of the blades have an optimum angle for the blade to cut to the side as it enters the animal. When the broadhead engages the animal the blades slab in. As the blades are slabbing in, the angle of the cut on contact blades maintain a controlled side ways expansion which is completely open to 4 inch when engaging vitals, liver, or guts. The 7/8 inch opening between the cut on contact points also adds in the controlled expansion and the material of the animal in between the cutting points push the rubber bands down the blades as they stab in and move to the side. We use the animal, angles, and friction to open as the broadhead in entering the animal. This mechanism has never failed to open.
