COLO SPRGS, CO –Alison Weisz and Sagen Maddalena both earned bronze medals in Women’s 10m Air Rifle at the 2022 ISSF President’s Cup in Cairo, Egyp.
The two USA Shooting National Team members and 2020 Tokyo Olympians were invited to this prestigious competition because they have a world ranking of 12 or higher in this event. Maddalena was also invited to compete in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
Weisz and Maddalena, both soldiers in the Army Marksmanship Unit, competed in the air rifle event over the course of three days. The first round was qualification, then ranking matches, and lastly, the semifinals.
Because of the format of this competition, Weisz, from Belgrade, Montana, and Maddalena, of Groveland, California, shot scores in the semifinals that earned them both bronze medals.
Tomorrow, Caitlin Connor, Women’s Skeet, and Derrick Mein, Men’s Trap, will compete in gold medal matches.
Athletes all around the globe compete in the annual tournament for cash prizes and the Golden Target award.
