Record Turnout for Cajun Bowfishing Event in Evansville, Indiana

TEAM 317 OUTDOORS NAMED CHAMPION WITH 241 POUNDS OF FISH

EVANSVILLE, IN  – Cajun Bowfishing hosted a record turnout at its fourth annual Cajun 8 Limited Bowfishing Tournament Saturday, July 28 through Sunday, July 29 at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville, Indiana.

Seventy-seven teams from eight different states including Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, Tennessee and Wisconsin, competed in this year’s tournament.

“Bowfishing is an exciting, fun, and adrenaline-filled sport that is becoming more and more popular every season,” says Dave Parker, Bear Archery General Manager. “The Cajun 8 is rapidly earning a reputation for being one of the best run bowfishing tournaments around, and I am proud of how our team has executed it. We also want to thank all of our sponsors who support the Cajun 8, including Yeti, Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops, Trophy Ridge, Alps Outdoors, Huk, Danner, Lacrosse, Moultrie, Premier Scales & Systems, Old Fashioned Butcher Shoppe, Veil Camo, and Angel Mounds State Historic Site. Their support helps our event be the success that it is.”

“We are thrilled with the outcome of this year’s Cajun 8 Limited,” Parker adds. “And, I can’t wait to see the sport and the competition grow even more in years to come.”

Team 317 Outdoors from Indiana won the Cajun 8 Limited with a total of 241 pounds of fish. Team Captain Carlton Summe and his team were awarded $8,000 for first place and an additional $1,250 as a Cajun bonus. This bonus was given to the top three finishers’ team members who shot Cajun equipment during the tournament. The bonus was based on $250 per bow, up to 4 bows, and $250 per reel, up to 4 reels for $2,000 max.

The Cajun Suckerpunch is a lightweight, perfectly balanced bowfishing bow with 50-lb. peak draw weight for the smooth, easy shooting that was demonstrated by 317 Outdoors in securing their win. Paired with any Cajun reel, it makes for a lethal combination.

The other nine teams of the top 10 included Aerial Assualt, Big Ole Mess, Quality Carp Management, Penetration Station, Slime Time, Fish This, Out Clubbin Too, Asian Fetish, and Mucked Up Bowfishing.

Additional prizes were awarded to teams with the heaviest fish in five categories. Time Well Wasted won the Heaviest Common (12 lbs.), Team AMS won the Heaviest Gar (19.8 lbs.), Bareshaft Bowfishing won Heaviest Buffalo (34.2 lbs.), Boone Boys won the Heaviest Grassy (44.4 lbs.), and the Big Head and Big Fish Award was given to Big Ole Mess.
