MISSOULA, Mont. – Last night, the Boone and Crockett Club presented the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) with its most prestigious award for conservation partners. The Conservation Stewardship Award is given annually to the organization or entity that best exemplifies excellence in natural resource conservation and stewardship—core values of the Boone and Crockett Club and its founder, Theodore Roosevelt. CSF President and CEO Jeff Crane accepted the award during the Club’s annual spring dinner on March 22 at the 88th North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.

“The Boone and Crockett Club’s Conservation and Stewardship Award recognizes a group that plays an essential role in implementing Theodore Roosevelt’s vision of Conservation: acts of guarding, protecting, developing, and using natural resources wisely and sustainably; and Stewardship: planning for and managing natural resources responsibly,” commented James L. Cummins, President of the Boone and Crockett Club. “Our relationship with Jeff Crane and the entire staff of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation is strong and we value our ability to work so closely with their impressive network of federal and state elected officials. We are proud to recognize them with this award and look forward to many more years of conservation policy success.”

Hunting, fishing, recreational shooting, and trapping pursuits offer opportunities for engaging American citizens in a common passion for the outdoors. Since 1989, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation has been the nation’s leading authority in developing and defending legislation that protects and advances our outdoor traditions. Through the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus, and the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses, CSF is a leader in ensuring that future generations have the same rights and privileges that we have today. Their success rate at delivering bipartisan legislative victories for generations of sportsmen and sportswomen at the state and national levels is unprecedented.

“CSF is honored to receive the Conservation and Stewardship Award from the Boone and Crockett Club—the nation’s oldest and most revered conservation organization and one of CSF’s strongest partners. Being recognized for perpetuating President Theodore Roosevelt’s conservation legacy is a tremendous distinction and one that we will always be proud of,” said CSF President and CEO Jeff Crane. “We thank the Boone and Crockett Club for this award, their support of CSF, and their commitment to conservation.”

The Boone and Crockett Club entered into a formal memorandum of understanding with CSF in 2021 to combine the power of CSF’s sportsmen’s caucus infrastructure and expertise with B&C’s influential network of conservation professionals and regular members across the country. Working together, the organizations have been leveraging each others’ resources to work strategically on federal, state, and regional conservation policy issues. The two organizations have worked successfully in advancing a number of legislative wins in recent years including the enactment of the Great American Outdoors Act, the Chronic Wasting Disease Research and Management Act, and several other key federal and state policies.
