Michigan: Still Time to Enter the Wetland Wonders Challenge

Wetland Wonders Challenge winners

Last year's Wetland Wonders Challenge winners with DNR staff members.

There’s still time to enter the Wetland Wonders Challenge

This waterfowl season, hunt at three or more of southern Michigan’s Wetland Wonders, or managed waterfowl hunt areas, and be entered to win a duck hunting prize package! The Wetland Wonders Challenge began Oct. 13 and runs through Feb. 14. Seven lucky winners will be chosen on March 1.

The seven winners will take home a duck hunting prize package, including a $500 gift card for duck hunting gear, a custom Zink duck call, a “golden ticket” good for one first-choice pick at a non-reserved managed waterfowl area drawing for the 2019-20 waterfowl hunting season and additional prizes.

To be entered for the grand prize drawing, hunters must hunt at three of the seven managed waterfowl areas, but each additional area visited gets you an additional contest entry. Hunt at all seven managed areas and get five chances to win.

Michigan's Wetland Wonders include the seven premier managed waterfowl hunt areas in the state: Fennville Farm Unit at the Allegan State Game Area (Allegan County), Fish Point State Wildlife Area (Tuscola County), St. Clair Flats State Wildlife Area on Harsens Island (St. Clair County), Muskegon County Wastewater Facility (Muskegon County), Nayanquing Point State Wildlife Area (Bay County), Pointe Mouillee State Game Area (Monroe and Wayne counties) and Shiawassee River State Game Area (Saginaw County).

These areas provide exceptional waterfowl hunting opportunities throughout the hunting season. Managed duck hunting runs through Dec. 9 at most of the managed waterfowl hunt areas, but the Fennville Farm Unit and Muskegon Wastewater Facility have managed goose hunting opportunities even later. Canada goose hunting at the Fennville Farm Unit runs through Feb. 14, 2019, and Muskegon Wastewater Facility’s season runs until Nov. 13 and opens again Dec. 1-22.
