A podcast dedicated to practical and comprehensive information for whitetail hunters will soon celebrate its 15th anniversary.

Deer Talk Now — the official podcast of Deer & Deer Hunting — first hit the air on Aug. 10, 2011. That first episode was hosted by Daniel Schmidt and Brad Rucks and broadcast live on the Deer & Deer Hunting website.

The podcast has attracted more than 16.5 million viewers since its inception.

Special guests have included the top whitetail biologists and researchers in North America, plus top hunters, industry experts, hunting celebrities and more.

The first several years were weekly LIVE broadcasts every Wednesday at noon from the Krause Publications, Iola, Wis., offices. Deer Talk Now then moved to a pre-produced video series for several years. For the first 10 years, approximately 210 episodes were produced.

Deer Talk Now became part of Media 360 LLC in 2019, and returned to a true podcast form on March 10, 2022, when it was released on 18 podcast platforms — every Thursday afternoon. This “new” version includes both audio and video versions. The audio podcast is found on numerous platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeart Radio and more. The video versions can be found on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, the Deer & Deer Hunting website and more. Video shorts from each podcast are found on all D&DH social media platforms, including TikTok, X (Twitter), Pinterest.

As of July 2025, Deer Talk Now weekly audience has grown to 46,873, with an annual viewership of more than 2.2 million deer hunters.
