Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an incident that took place yesterday morning and resulted in the arrest of a Lake Station man.
At approximately 10 a.m. CT, conservation officers responded to a report of a violent altercation on Burns Ditch in Portage.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a father and son were boating when an altercation occurred during which the son used a blunt force object against the father, causing both to fall into the water.
Nicholas Floyd Frazier, 20, of Lake Station, was arrested and is being charged with attempted murder, a Level 1 felony; aggravated assault, a Level 3 felony; and battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony.
This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available at this time. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Agencies assisting with the incident were the Portage Police Department, Portage Police Crime Scene Unit, Lake Station Police Department, Crown Point Police Department, and National Park Rangers.
