Williamsburg, KY –- The 2nd Annual USA Archery/S3DA Collegiate Exposure 3-D tournament was held in conjunction with the 2018 3-D Collegiate National Archery Championship in Foley, Alabama. A total of 49 participants competed in the Collegiate Exposure Tournament held prior to the National Archery Championship. The USAA 3-D Collegiate National Archery Championship is a collaborative effort of S3DA partnering organizations: USA Archery and the Archery Shooters Association (ASA). There were 32 colleges and universities represented with 335 archers, tripling participation from last year. Former S3DA archers were represented across each class and division of the 2018 Collegiate 3-D National Championship. At least 12 colleges and universities represented at the tournament had former S3DA archers competing.

Illinois S3DA State Coordinator, Ricky Sauls stated, “S3DA is an outstanding program. Any kid from 3rd through 12th grade is eligible to compete no matter their ability. Everyone gets to participate and be part of a team. High School kids can earn scholarships to continue their education and enjoy shooting at the next level, which is not something that was available when I was their age.”

This is the 1st year for the Wabash Valley College Archery Program, as well as their first appearance at the Collegiate National Archery Tournament. Every student and coach within this program has a present or past affiliation with Illinois S3DA. Wabash Valley Community College Coach, Earl Lawrence is an Advanced Instructor for S3DA. Earl stated, “I consider this tournament a huge success for Wabash Valley College and I look forward to getting more kids excited about the possibility of attending college through archery.” Wabash Valley College is located in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Head Coach for the University of the Cumberlands and local S3DA Club Coach for Impact Archery, Kris Strebeck stated: “Overall this was a great event. The staff and facilities were top of the line. I am so proud of my team's performance and the competitive spirit and sportsmanship they showed all weekend.” The University of the Cumberlands finished in 1st place for the overall team championship, followed by Union College in 2nd place and Emmanuel College in 3rd place.

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving

thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
