Team Beretta Shooters Post Wins at the Gator Cup

(Accokeek, MD) Team Beretta shooters recently achieved 13 podium finishes in 7 different events at last week’s 2019 Gator Cup in Okeechobee, FL.

Team Beretta members in attendance at this competition included Anthony Matarese, Joseph Fanizzi, Desirae Edmunds, Diane Sorantino, Zachary Kienbaum, Jared Greenwood, and Dominic Gross.

Matarese, who shoots with a standard Beretta DT11, topped the podium as the 2019 Gator Cup champion in the main event with an exceptional score of 193 targets out of 200, besting his nearest competitor by 4 targets. He also obtained a third-place podium finish in the Super Sporting event with a score of 49 out of 100 targets after competing in a shoot-off with two other shooters, which included fellow teammate Joseph Fanizzi.

In addition to achieving champion honors in the Super Sporting event, Fanizzi, a junior team member, topped the podium in the main event as the sub-junior champion with a score of 182 out of 200 targets. Fanizzi, shooting with a Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting Black Edition, also secured two additional first-place finishes in the junior FITASC and Friday Preliminary events and one runner-up podium finish in the 5-Stand event with scores of 91/100, 98/100, and 45/50, respectively.

Edmunds, who shoots with a Beretta DT11 L, obtained ladies champion honors in the main event with a score of 171 out of 200 targets, besting her nearest competitor by 3 targets. She also achieved a ladies champion, a runner-up, and a third-place finish in the three preliminary events with scores of 82/100, 86/100, and 91/100, respectively.

Both Sorantino and Kienbaum secured a podium finish in one of the preliminary events. Sorantino topped the podium as the ladies champion in the Thursday preliminary event with a score of 88 out of 100 targets. Kienbaum won a third-place finish in the Friday preliminary event for the blue course with a score of 94 out of 100 targets.

Gross and Greenwood, junior team members, battled against some tough competitors and finished in the top ten for each of the events in which they were entered.

Team Beretta shooters will continue their season at the upcoming 2019 Seminole Cup in Woodbine, GA from February 27 to March 3.
