Enough crazy, already.

We’ve seen enough loons go on shooting sprees over the last few weeks to last a lifetime.

Yesterday, we get a wack job flew from California to Washington, D.C. with the intent to kill “a specific United States Supreme Court justice” because he (the wack job) was “upset about the leak of the Supreme Court opinion related to abortion rights, an upcoming gun control case and the school shooting last month in Uvalde, Texas.”

According to the FBI arrest report, Nicholas John Roske is getting his brief fling in the celebrity spotlight after calling authorities and telling them he was having suicidal thoughts and had a firearm in his suitcase.

When taken into custody, he did have a suitcase- and a backpack. They contained: “a ‘tactical knife’ a Glock 17 pistol, two magazines, ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, a hammer, screwdriver, nail punch, crowbar, pistol light and duct tape.

Our legislators have become so bitterly divided -and so vicious in their verbal attacks on each other - that nothing crazies do should surprise any of us. A lack of restraint- by anyone with a public following and a viewpoint - is fueling boiling pots of crazy on both sides of the ideological spectrum.

It’s been building since the allegedly accident leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade. Threats of violence against the conservative members of Court have risen -exponentially. Just last month, the Department of Homeland Security issued a memo warning of credible threats to the Justices. The Supreme Court police notes an uptick in social media threats of violence. Those threats have been directed at the Justices and their families and the Supreme Court building itself. Those threats are why the court is now surrounded by protective fencing.

President Biden has “condemned the action in the strongest language possible.”

Meanwhile, his party members in the House of Representatives continue to delay a measure to enhance security for the Justices. The Speaker of the House has praised protesters their “righteous anger” while demonstrating outside the homes of the Justices. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer went to far as to threaten that Justice Kavanaugh would “pay the price” should the draft opinion be true.

Neither of those sound much like a call for cooler heads to prevail.

If there are any adults left in Washington, it’s time for them to step forward.

We commoners have just about had enough of the foolishness.

If you doubt that, I’d suggest looking at Tuesday’s election results - in that bastion of conservative values - San Francisco, California.

Fed up with rising crime and the thousands of homeless crazies camped out at their front doors, San Francisco voters recalled Chesa Boudin, the San Francisco District Attorney.

Elected in 2019 during the height of cries for “police reform”, Boudin proved to be too-far left and too-soft on crime -even for San Francisco. One liberal analyst tweeted that Boudin’s recall should serve as a “cautionary tale for elected officials in Seattle, a city with similar sensibilities. Asian American voting block played a massive role in recall. Boudin accused to botching response to #AsianHate.”

It wasn’t even close. Sixty one percent to remove versus thirty-nine percent to retain.

For San Franciscans, the choice was clear. Boudin wasn’t part of the solution, he was a big part of the problem.

So they fired him. They also got the undivided attention of the remaining leaders. They have proven, once again, that Vox populi - the voice of the majority of the people- is powerful.

The best way to calm down crazy is for adults to collectively decide “enough is enough.”

We’re listening for those voices..and, as always, we’ll keep you posted.
