- CONSERVATION -
Last week at the National Elk Calling Championships held in Nevada, Chris Fong became the RMEF PeeWee Youth Calling Championship with a super performance and a giant call. His father Derek, a national board member of QUWF, and his mother Joan, are wonderful parents participating in all outdoor activities with Chris.
- ENFORCEMENT -
Lt. Brandon Kieft, conservation officer with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, was the first law enforcement agent to arrive at the scene when a group of people reported that they believed they had found Gabriella Vitale, a 2-year-old girl who went missing Monday morning.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) conservation officers cited 300 plus paddlers, most in kayaks, some in inner tubes, on July 6 for no life jackets on board.

- EVENTS -

- FISHERIES -
After completing a review of the first 21 days of the proposed 27-day 2019 private angler red snapper season, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) will add five days to the private vessel recreational season.
At its July meeting in Stuart, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved a draft proposal to create a recreational limit for blackfin tuna of two fish per person or 10 fish per vessel, whichever is greater, and to extend this proposed regulation into federal waters.

- GRANTS -
The Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund has awarded a grant to the national Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) venison donation ministry. This funding will help FHFH pay meat processing bills to transform donated deer into nutritious meat for local food banks.

- HUNTING -
More than 850 permits will be available for purchase beginning 8 a.m., Monday, July 22, for special deer hunts on Arkansas’s wildlife management areas.
The Michigan State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation presents a mentored fall turkey hunt, Sept. 27-28, at the Pierce Cedar Creek Institute in Hastings.
Nebraska hunters who were awarded big game permits during the 2019 limited permit drawing have until July 19 to purchase their permits.

At its July meeting in Stuart, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) presented Ken and Kay Corbin of Trenton with the Landowner of the Year award for the couple’s generous support of the FWC’s Youth Hunting Program of Florida.

Utah’s bears are out and active, and the number of bears reported getting into garbage and food this month has doubled from last July. If you are out camping or if you live in any canyons or foothills in Utah, you must “bear-proof” your food and garbage.
