Herricks Cove Wildlife Festival Celebrates Wildlife and Spring

WATERBURY, VERMONT – Anyone interested in wildlife or itching to get out and enjoy a spring day should make plans to attend the 9th annual Herricks Cove Wildlife Festival in Rockingham, on Sunday, May 4.

Herricks Cove is a beautiful spot on the Connecticut River and the perfect setting for this festival that celebrates the wonders of wildlife. Meet John James Audubon, learn how to identify waterfowl and fly fish, see live owls, eagles and reptiles, build bat boxes and visit a giant moose display. Special programs will also include an insect presentation and a fishing workshop just for kids. Fish and Wildlife Department biologists and game wardens will be on hand to answer questions and discuss department programs and other fish and wildlife issues while Forest, Parks and Recreation employees will also be there with a variety of displays and presentations.

For the early risers, a 7:30 a.m. guided bird walk is planned. The rest of the day’s activities are scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Guided nature walks, nature presentations, live music, arts and crafts and workshops are some of the fun activities planned. The suggested donation is $2.00 for an individual and $5.00 for a family.

Herricks Cove Wildlife Festival is presented by the Ascutney Mountain Audubon Society, the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, and Central Vermont Public Service Corporation, in partnership with TransCanada Hydro Northeast, Inc.
