Wilson Bridge Press Tour Postponed Due To Safety Concerns Arising From High Wind Warnings On The Chesapeake Bay

In the wake of the cold front that passed through the region Tuesday, a small craft advisory has been issued on Chesapeake Bay through late Wednesday. Sustained winds out of the NW at 20 knots and greater have delayed the departure of the Norfolk-based tug that will bring the Woodrow Wilson Bridge material to the Point No Point Fish Haven. As a result of the these maritime conditions, the deployment of materials and subsequent media tour of the Wilson Bridge placement on the Point No Point Fish Haven has been delayed until Monday, September 25.

WHO: The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
WHAT: A tour by DNR staff of the placement of large 50-foot sections of the original Woodrow Wilson Bridge. The materials will be deployed off of a football field-sized barge. The placement of materials will enhance fish habitat within an established artificial reef site in the Chesapeake Bay off Point No Point, St. Mary's County.
WHERE:
Drury's Marina
49599 Airedale Road
Ridge, MD 20680
WHEN: DATE/TIME MOVED AGAIN TO Monday, September 25, 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
WHY: To enhance fish habitat and sport fishing opportunities.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Office of Communications would like to apologize for the delay of the Wilson Bridge Press Tour event. The new date is Monday, September 25, at 10:30 a.m. We are confident that this time will stand.
