Our client is a strong, growing manufacturer of premium consumer products serving the shooting sports industry. Their visionary leadership and aggressive product development strategies have been key to their success, establishing them as a premier producer of high quality products. We are working on their behalf to find a strong Director of Design Engineering to contribute technical expertise, drive innovation, and improve engineering processes to and keep their technology at the forefront of the industry.

This position designs and develops new firearms from concept through to fabrication. The Director of Design Engineering is responsible for all aspects of product development including R&D, conceptual development, industrial design, function, evaluation, and release to tooling and production. The right candidate for this position needs to have a combination of innovation, creativity, and thinking outside the box, but also have the ability to analyze, use critical thinking skills, and bring solid results to a finished product.

Responsibilities:

• Develop conceptual designs for new, high quality firearms products based on market needs, best practices, and new technologies that can be manufactured at an economical price to increase profitability.
• Work closely with production, marketing and management to conceptualize and develop detailed designs and specifications, including 3D modeling, drawing creation, and document control.
• Redesign existing firearm products to improve their function and reduce manufacturing costs so that they can be kept in the line.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Technical degree, along with  senior level firearms design/development experience
• Solid understanding of advanced firearm products
• Ability to build and grow market share by developing leading firearms products emphasizing value, quality, function and safety
• Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Executive Team
• Ability and desire to lead projects from start to completion
